CIWIL
Call for Papers to a Guest-Edited Special Issue on:
Innovations and Learning in Health and Welfare
In this special issue of CIWIL, we invite contributions exploring the interplay
between innovation and learning in health and welfare. Particular attention is paid to
how this relationship influences the working conditions of healthcare professionals,
the lives of patients and relatives, and lifelong learning. The overall aim is to advance equal, person-centred, and sustainable healthcare.
In a time of rapid technological and societal change, there is a need for critical
research examining how innovations, particularly digital innovations, affect the
quality, organisation, and sustainability of health and welfare services. We especially
welcome studies that challenge the assumption that innovation automatically leads
to improvement and instead view innovation and learning as complex social change
processes with implications for equality, inclusion, and sustainability.
The editors welcome theoretical, philosophical, methodological, conceptual, and
empirical contributions. Relevant topics include:
• Interaction between innovation and learning in health and welfare
• Digital innovations and healthcare professionals’ working conditions
• Innovations and the lives of patients and relatives
• Lifelong learning and quality of care
• Innovation, inclusion, and equality
• Technology and the organisation and quality of care
• Well-being and work environments in healthcare
• Innovative solutions for sustainable health systems
• Policy and operational development related to innovation and learning
• Person-centred and equitable approaches to innovation
• Opportunities and challenges of digital transformation in health and welfare
