Access

Access within VGR's network is done by logging into ProQuest with VGR ID/e-mail address and password.

If you have not previously borrowed books via ProQuest EBC, you can create a user account for EBC if you are on VGR's network. Then the email you choose will also be the username you then log in with. After this you will be able to log in outside of the VGR's network.

If you are outside VGR's network and don't have an EBC account contact the NU library to get login details.

Printing and/or copying

It is permitted to print parts of the book.

More information

Use the Adobe Digital Editions program or app to download e-books on your computer or mobile or tablet. Both of these services require you to have an Adobe ID. (See how to obtain this under "Preparations" below.)

Preparations

All people need to complete the first step. You then follow the instructions that apply to the device to which you intend to download the books.

  1. Get an Adobe ID by following the link and registering.

For computers

  1. Download the Adobe Digital Editions program. This program must already be on VGR's computers. If it is missing or you have an old version, call VGR IT (010-473 71 00).
  2. Link your Adobe ID with Adobe Digital Editions by launching the latter program. After accepting license terms, you get to fill in your Adobe ID.
  3. Done!

For mobile devices (mobile, tablet)

  1. Download the Adobe Digital Editions app.
  2. Connect your Adobe ID with Adobe Digital Editions by opening the app, selecting "Settings" - "Authorize" and filling in your Adobe ID. If Adobe Digital Editions is not present in you app store you could for example use the app Pocket Book Reader.
  3. Done!

Borrow books in ProQuest
  1. Log in to ProQuest with your VGR-id and password.
  2. Search for the book you are interested in.
  3. Select either "Read Online" to open the book directly in the browser or "Download" to download the book. If you download it on a computer, the file will be downloaded and opened in Adobe Digital Editions. If you download on a mobile device (mobile phone, tablet), the file will be downloaded and opened in for example Adobe Digital Editions or Pocket Book Reader instead.

If the book does not open automatically or gives you the choice to "open with", open the downloaded file (URLLink) manually instead. If you use a computer, the book is then opened in the Adobe Digital Editions program, or on a mobile device in for example Adobe Digital Editions or Pocket Book Reader.

Renew loans in ProQuest

Re-borrowing in ProQuest takes place after a loan period has expired. Log in to ProQuest and borrow the book in the same way as last time (if you don't remember how you did it, follow the instructions under "Borrowing books in ProQuest").
