Pathology in the NU Hospital Group

The NU Hospital Group’s pathology clinic opened in 1957 and is one of Sweden’s oldest pathology clinics outside the university cities. The clinic has been accredited according to ISO 15189 since April 2008. The clinic is located at the Norra Älvsborg County Hospital and is going be extended with a new sub-department for breast diagnostics at Uddevalla Hospital.
The clinic consists of a histopathology laboratory, a cytology laboratory, mortuary and autopsy departments at Norra Älvsborg County Hospital and Uddevalla Hospital, a team of doctors and an administration department.

The Director of the Clinic is Kenth Olofsson.
The clinic’s activities include preparation and light microscope examination of tissue samples, smear tests, clinical autopsies and corpse storage in the mortuaries.

The team consists of 5 specialist doctors and 2 doctors in training.
We cooperate closely with other clinics with regular rounds.
Our laboratory is accredited and well-equipped and is located in light, modern premises.

Every year we carry out approximately
• 17,000 histopathological tests
• 23,000 cytological tests
• 200 autopsies

What our pathology staff think of the NU Hospital Group

Björn Tegtmeyer, Specialist doctor

... “a great advantage of working for the NU Hospital Group is the team-oriented approach that creates a good foundation for personal development and a pleasant working climate. Trollhättan and Sweden also offer great opportunities for an active leisure time, not least because of the 40-hour working week”…

György Barócsai, Medical head of the department

"My tasks are varied and I have the opportunity to develop and a good work environment. I received my training in Hungary and I have worked at the
Pathology Clinic since 2002."

Wasan Printzen, Cytodiagnostician

…”I come from Thailand but I received my training in Sweden. The best thing about the NU Hospital Group? A good place to work and pleasant colleagues!”…
